Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has said that his sons will not be visiting Pakistan or participating in any political demonstrations.
Speaking to reporters at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan said that Suleman Khan (28) and Kasim Khan (26), would not be part of the party’s planned protest scheduled for August 5.
“My sons will not be coming to Pakistan. They will neither be part of any protest nor will they lead any protest,” former prime minister said in response to reporter’s question.
The remarks came after Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, reportedly stated that the former premier’s sons would take part in the demonstration, which is being organised to demand Khan’s release from prison.
Imran Khan also appeared to distance himself from those reports. “I am telling you, they aren’t coming to Pakistan and they will not take part in any protest,” he reiterated.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also confirmed that the party is not in contact with Khan’s sons regarding the protest plans, though he added that it is their right to meet their father.
The two sons were recently in the United States, where they reportedly met with U.S. lawmakers to lobby for their father's release.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023, facing multiple legal cases, including charges related to corruption and terrorism, following his removal from office via a no-confidence vote in April 2022.
