Former prime minister Imran Khan has expressed his condolences over the passing of his former wife Jemima Goldsmith’s mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith. The PTI founder said he learned about her death while in Adiala Jail, describing the loss as deeply personal.
In a message shared on his official X account, Khan paid tribute to Lady Annabel, calling her “a wonderful grandmother” to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, and “an exceptionally kind and compassionate person.”
“During my visits to London, I would stay with her along with my sons. She became like a mother to me, especially after losing my own mother in 1985,” his post read.
“Her passing is a profound loss. My heartfelt thoughts are with all her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all of us. If I were not in prison, I would have attended her funeral with my sons.”
In response, Khan’s former brother-in-law Zac Goldsmith expressed gratitude for the message, sharing that his late mother “adored and respected” Imran Khan. “We are all praying for you,” Zac wrote on X.
Lady Annabel Goldsmith passed away on October 18 at the age of 92. Born in 1934 into an Anglo-Irish aristocratic family, she was a renowned British socialite known for her charm, wit, and for opening London’s first modern nightclub, Annabel’s. She is survived by six children from two marriages.
