Gas supply to be suspended for industries across Sindh

SSGC has announced a 24-hour suspension of gas supply to industrial consumers across Sindh due to a shortfall in the system. 

According to a spokesperson, Salman Siddiqui, the SSGC remains committed to providing improved gas pressure to consumers. He further claimed that they are taking necessary steps to manage the limited supply. He said the decision was taken to maintain system stability and ensure fair distribution across all sectors.

Under the announced schedule, gas supply to all industrial users, including captive power plants, will remain suspended from 8:00am on Sunday, April 12, 2026, until 8:00am on Monday, April 13, 2026.

SSGC stated that the temporary shutdown is part of its load management strategy, designed to address the ongoing gas shortfall and improve “line pack,” a term used to describe maintaining adequate pressure in the transmission network. 

Moreover, they claimed that priority sectors such as domestic consumers and essential services will continue to receive supply.

Furthermore, it was said that controlled load shedding is routinely implemented across different regions to balance supply and demand, particularly during periods of peak consumption. 

SSGC reiterated that while industrial supply is temporarily curtailed, efforts are ongoing to optimize gas reserves and maintain consistent flow to priority segments of the economy.

Industries in the past, however, have expressed concerns over such suspensions, citing production delays and operational costs, but SSGC maintains that these steps are necessary to prevent wider system pressure collapse.
