Fazlur Rehman says country belongs to all, not any general or military ruler

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said he is prepared to die at the hands of the establishment rather than be condemned by history, stressing that Pakistan belongs to everyone and not to any individual or military general.

Addressing parliament, Fazl directly addressed the establishment, saying: “We are ready to die at your hands, but not at the hands of history. This country does not belong to any soldier or general; it belongs to all of us.

He also criticised the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), arguing that the security situation in Balochistan was worse.

“If governor’s rule had to be imposed over terrorism, it should have been imposed in Balochistan first,” he said.

The JUI-F chief added that the KP government’s position on eliminating terrorism had been clear and unequivocal.
