Gilgit-Baltistan's election preparations have been finalised, with 119 of the 174 polling stations in Diamer district classified as highly sensitive ahead of polling.

According to election data, the total number of registered voters across Diamer’s four constituencies stands at 158,714. Of these, 81,655 are male voters, while 77,059 are female voters.

A total of 174 polling stations and 380 polling booths have been established across the district’s four constituencies. Of the 174 polling stations, 119 have been categorised as highly sensitive, 22 as sensitive, and 33 as normal.

In Constituency GBA-15 Diamer-I (Chilas), there are 44,526 registered voters. The constituency has 52 polling stations, including 22 classified as highly sensitive, 12 as sensitive and 18 as normal.

Constituency GBA-16 Diamer-II (Chilas) has the highest number of voters, with 46,282 people eligible to cast their ballots. A total of 44 polling stations have been established in the constituency, of which 19 are highly sensitive and 10 are sensitive.

All 46 polling stations in Constituency GBA-17 Diamer-III (Darel) have been declared highly sensitive. The constituency has 41,045 registered voters.

Similarly, all 32 polling stations in Constituency GBA-18 Diamer-IV (Tangir) have been classified as highly sensitive. The constituency has a total of 26,861 registered voters.

Polling for the Gilgit-Baltistan elections will take place tomorrow. The election campaign period has formally ended following restrictions imposed by the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, a contingent of 5,000 personnel from Punjab Police has arrived in Gilgit-Baltistan to assist with election security arrangements.
