Actor Bilal Qureshi has appealed to the government to prohibit serving food at funerals, saying that the practice places unnecessary financial strain on grieving families.
Taking to Instagram story, Qureshi expressed concern over the growing trend of elaborate food arrangements at funeral ceremonies, calling it a misplaced social expectation.
“I request the government to ban food at funerals. Families are already burdened with expenses related to coffins, burial, and other arrangements. Please make death easier, life itself has become expensive and difficult enough,” Qureshi wrote.
He further highlighted how societal pressure often compels families, even those struggling financially, to organize meals after funerals to avoid criticism.
Bilal Qureshi’s statement has sparked discussion online, with many users supporting his stance and calling for greater awareness about simplifying post-death rituals.
However, not everyone agreed with Bilal Qureshi’s viewpoint. Many social media users argued that such practices are part of cultural and traditional norms rather than government-imposed rules.
