PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has issued a notice to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and sought a response to a contempt petition challenging the alleged use of government resources for political rallies, marches, protests and other political activities.

The petition was heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Ejaz.

The petition alleges that the chief minister is using state resources for political activities in violation of an earlier court ruling.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel told the court that the chief minister had allegedly used a government helicopter for the Lakki Marwat long march, describing the use of official resources for political activities as a violation of the court’s orders.

The counsel further argued that the High Court, in a 2025 judgment, had prohibited the use of government resources for political activities.

According to the petitioner’s counsel, the alleged use of state resources constituted a violation of the court’s directives and amounted to contempt of court.

After hearing the arguments, the court issued a notice to the chief minister and sought his response to the allegations. The hearing was subsequently adjourned.
