'Dua karein humein insaf mile, hum buhat jidojehad kar rahe hain': Mir Raza's father

Forty days after the death of Mir Raza Ali, his family and supporters have renewed their demand for justice, raising questions over the investigation, post-mortem process and the continued failure to identify those responsible for his death.

The family marked Mir Raza Ali’s Chehlum by reiterating that their struggle for justice would continue until the circumstances surrounding his death were fully investigated and those responsible were held accountable.

“While fighting to get justice for our child, we did not even realise how 40 days had passed,” Mir Raza's father said.

“We do not understand why the narrative is being changed. The things we were saying from the first day were not being believed. Now, those same concerns are coming before the judicial commission,” Mir Hassan said.

The family has been demanding the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), arguing that a broader and independent investigation is necessary to establish the facts.

“We are fighting to ensure that a JIT is formed. We will pursue every legal avenue available. God willing, the JIT will be formed, and the truth will come out,” the father said.

The family said the judicial commission’s proceedings had given them some hope that the issues they had been highlighting since the beginning would now be examined.

A neighbour described Mir Raza as a talented young man who had built his career through hard work and was making progress at an international level.

“Very few people like Mir are born,” one of the neighbour said, describing him as a talented, capable and determined young man.

“Why have the killers still not been found? Why have investigators not reached the point they need to reach?.

“He was progressing at an international level. Someone saw his success, pulled him down and ended his life,” the speaker alleged.

The family also thanked the young people who have continued to participate in protests and demonstrations seeking justice, saying their participation was voluntary and driven by solidarity rather than financial incentives.

“My child deserves justice. We will continue fighting and will not stop until justice is delivered,” the father said.
