US President Donald Trump has revealed that eight planes were destroyed during the Pakistan-India war. He stated this with certainty, adding that the eighth plane was “ badly wounded.” Trump said that his administration had warned both warring nations that the US would halt trade deals with them if they continued fighting.

He reiterated his comments on his role in preventing a nuclear war between Pakistan and India, but this time, in a recent speech, he specifically mentioned that eight planes were downed.

Trump said he was about to finalize a trade deal with both countries when he came across news of the war in newspapers outlets he claimed he wouldn’t name because “they mostly publish fake news.”

“Eight planes, seven planes were shot down, and the eighth was really badly wounded, but eight planes were shot down. They are two nuclear nations. I said I’m not going to make any trade deal with you unless you agree to peace,” Trump recalled.

He further added that both countries insisted that their trade deals with the US had nothing to do with their conflict, but Trump said, “It has everything to do with it. I’m not making any deal with you if you’re at war with each other.” He continued, “They said we make peace, and they stopped, and I said, thank you, let’s trade.”

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he helped prevent a nuclear conflict in South Asia and has often mentioned that several planes were shot down. Previously, he said seven planes were destroyed, but now he has raised the figure to eight.

It is pertinent to mention that, for months after the war, India did not claim to have downed any Pakistani jet. Meanwhile, Pakistani forces presented evidence to the media during the conflict, revealing they had shot down six planes, including four French-made Rafale fighter jets.

These claims were verified and confirmed by international media outlets.
