Pakistan has firmly rejected claims made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky alleging the involvement of Pakistani nationals in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, labelling the accusations as "baseless" and "unfounded."

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Monday, the Government of Pakistan categorically denied any involvement of its citizens in the war.

The Foreign Office further clarified that Ukrainian authorities have neither contacted the Pakistani government through official channels nor provided any credible or verifiable evidence to support their claims.

Pakistan also announced its intention to raise the matter with Ukrainian officials to seek clarification over the remarks.

Reaffirming its longstanding stance, the Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

The controversy stems from a recent claim made by President Zelensky, who stated that Ukrainian forces fighting in the country’s northeastern region were encountering foreign mercenaries allegedly from China, Pakistan, and various African nations.

In a post shared on X, Zelensky wrote, “We spoke with commanders about the frontline situation, the defense of Vovchansk, and the dynamics of the battles. We also specifically addressed the issues of drone supply and deployment, recruitment, and direct funding for the brigades. Our warriors in this sector are reporting the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and African countries in the war. We will respond.”

The Ukrainian president has previously accused Russia of deploying foreign fighters, including Chinese nationals, a claim denied by Beijing.
