Turkiye strongly rejected media reports in India that link it to the recent fatal explosion in New Delhi, accusing certain Indian channels of launching a “malicious campaign” aimed at damaging mutual ties.
In a statement issued by the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi, Ankara condemned press reports claiming that the suspects of the terrorist attack received logistical support from Turkiye.
The embassy’s statement stressed that the country “sternly condemns all forms of terrorism and cooperates with the international community in the struggle against it.” It called the charges “floating rumours” that risk harming the long standing diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.
While no official Indian government source has publicly verified the specific claim of Turkish involvement in the explosion, Turkish officials highlighted that such reporting reflects a broader pattern of anti-Turkiye sentiment in Indian media and online statements
The embassy urged the Indian public and wider international community not to accept these “misleading and false claims” at face value. It emphasized that Turkiye engages transparently with all countries on counter-terrorism matters, and any unproven allegations undermine that work.
In the broader context, diplomatic ties between India and Turkiye have gotten weak over recent months, particularly over Turkiye’s strong support for Pakistan in its conflict with India.
Indian officials previously raised concerns about Turkiye’s defence and diplomatic alignments, leading to calls for boycotts of Turkish goods and scrutiny of Turkish aviation and business interests in India.
