Traffic Police propose fines for bikes without side mirrors and indicators

Authorities have proposed imposing fines on motorcyclists riding without side-view mirrors and indicators as part of efforts to improve road safety.

According to the Lahore Traffic Police, a summary has been prepared seeking amendments to the Motor Vehicles law to introduce penalties for motorcycles lacking the required safety features.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said the traffic police has also proposed requiring motorcycle manufacturers to permanently install side-view mirrors in their vehicle designs.

Traffic police officials said the absence of side-view mirrors and indicators is a major factor contributing to road accidents. Riders have been urged to ensure their motorcycles are equipped with all mandatory safety features.

In addition to the proposed legal changes, authorities plan to launch public awareness and driver education campaigns to promote compliance with traffic laws and encourage safer riding practices.
