An anti-Islam campaigner has been stopped from entering the United Kingdom after intervention by the UK government, following criticism from MPs and campaign groups.
Valentina Gomez earlier said on X that she had obtained a UK electronic travel authorisation (ETA). She had been due to appear at the “Unite the Kingdom” rally in May, an event organised by Tommy Robinson.
However, officials moved to stop her entry, with the Home Office concluding that her presence would not be conducive to the public good, according to reports. The decision falls within the powers of the home secretary, who can revoke permission for individuals to enter or stay in the country.
Gomez, who is based in the United States, rose to prominence through a series of anti-Islam actions during her unsuccessful campaign as a Republican candidate for Missouri secretary of state.
