Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received more than three dozen gifts between July and September, including 1,000 grams of fine gold from Kyrgyzstan, according to information released by the Cabinet Division.
The gifts received during his foreign visits have been deposited in the Toshakhana, while their valuations are being determined, the division said.
The gold, listed as a box of 1,000 grams of fine gold, was deposited on September 8 following Shehbaz’s official visit to Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 2.
Other gifts included carpets, shields, a model of Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH), paintings, decorative items, books, prayer beads and a table clock.
President Asif Ali Zardari received seven gifts during the same period, including carpets, an archery set, a musical instrument, a Faisal Mosque frame and a chess set.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, other federal ministers and senior officials also received gifts, which were deposited in the Toshakhana.
In September, the government notified the Toshakhana (Management and Regulation) Rules, 2026, requiring gifts deposited in the treasury to be disposed of through open auctions with committee approval.
Under the rules, auction proceeds will be deposited in a separate account and used to promote girls’ primary education in the country’s most underdeveloped areas.
