Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to face each other in a three-match T20I series in January, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) reportedly finalising the schedule.
The series, which will serve as preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, is scheduled from 8 to 12 January at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
The upcoming World Cup, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March, will see Pakistan play all its matches in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model, allowing the team to avoid touring India directly while participating in neutral-venue fixtures.
Officials from PCB and SLC held continuous discussions before confirming the short series, which is expected to help Pakistan acclimatise to local conditions and fine-tune team combinations ahead of the global tournament.
All three T20Is will be held in Dambulla due to ongoing renovations at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in preparation for the World Cup. These upgrades also led SLC to postpone the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League, originally slated for November–December.
Currently, Sri Lanka is touring Pakistan for a T20I tri-series. Pakistan has secured a place in the final, while Sri Lanka must win their final group match decisively to remain in contention.
Zimbabwe sits second in the points table with one win from four matches and a net run rate of -0.522, while Sri Lanka is third with a net run rate of -1.324.
