Educational institutions in Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera will remain closed on Monday following the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), as district administrations announced the suspension of academic activities across the three districts.

The federal government approved the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in the province after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The move came after the federal cabinet endorsed the recommendation.

In Swabi, the district education officer and deputy commissioner issued directives ordering the closure of all public and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities.

The decision was taken in view of the prevailing circumstances in the province.

Authorities in Mardan and Nowshera also announced the closure of educational institutions for Monday.

The announcements mean students and teachers across the three districts will remain off campus as the provincial situation unfolds.
