A minor who was seriously injured in a case of alleged torture by a madrassa teacher in Aziz Brohi Goth, Manghopir, has passed away, the police reported on Monday. The case took place on November 30 last year.
The Manghopir police had earlier registered a case for causing injuries and had arrested the teacher, who had taken bail after that. However, after the child died, the Manghopir police said that the charged offenses in the case shall include murder and other appropriate sections of the law.
As per the statement of Manghopir SHO Khushnawaz, the case was reported on November 30, in which a six-year-old class student, named Hassan, was beaten by his madrasa teacher, Qari Allah Bachayo. The case was registered, and the accused was arrested, but he was released on bail.
The injured child has been undergoing treatment since the incident occurred and was admitted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died on Sunday.
The SHO stated that Section 302, that is, murder, and other relevant sections would be included in the FIR because of the death of the child, and attempts would be made to re-arrest the accused.
Hassan's father, Habib-ur-Rehman, reported that "We first took him to a nearby clinic, where X-rays revealed a crack in his skull. He added that the accused teacher was currently on bail and demanded justice. "My son would scream in pain during treatment. After his burial, we will pursue further legal action," he said.
