Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong relations with the United States regardless of which political party holds power in Washington, following the Democrats’ sweeping victory in the US midterm elections.
FO spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said Islamabad would continue engaging with successive US administrations regardless of any political changes.
Speaking at his weekly briefing, he identified trade, investment, security, counterterrorism and minerals as key areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The spokesperson also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate negotiations between Washington and Tehran, describing the signing of the Islamabad MoU as a significant achievement.
The Foreign Office said discussions concerning the proposed transfer of Afghan nationals from the United States through Pakistan remained under consideration, with no final arrangement announced.
