A speeding trailer crushed a motorcyclist to death on Shershah Bridge in Karachi on Friday.
The victim has not yet been identified, according to police and rescue officials.
The accident occurred on the road leading from Shershah towards Baldia when a fast-moving trailer rammed into a motorcycle, killing the biker on the spot.
Police officials said that no identification documents were recovered from the deceased’s pockets, making it difficult to ascertain his identity so far.
Following the accident, the trailer driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. The police took the trailer into custody and shifted it to the police station.
The cleaner present in the trailer has also been detained, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
It is worth noting that in Karachi, reckless dumpers and water tankers are often seen violating traffic rules and roaming freely on city roads, putting lives at risk.
According to official figures, more than 700 people were killed and over 10,000 injured in traffic accidents in Karachi last year. Motorcyclists and pedestrians accounted for the most casualties, many of whom were crushed by speeding vehicles and heavy traffic.
