Rape victim sets herself ablaze after court acquits accused in Kasur

A policeman allegedly raped a 13-year old girl in Kasur's Baga Hithar village.The rape victim attempted to set herself ablaze by dousing her body with petrol after a local court acquitted the accused on Friday.

During the hearing, the prosecution stated that the accused had raped the victim at the residence of a female co-accused, resulting in her getting pregnant. The victim’s father filed an FIR against the alleged rapist, however, the victim remained silent as the accused had threatened her to with severe consequences.

Two female relatives of the accused were also nominated in the case, with one allegedly assisting the suspect during the crime and the other reportedly forcing the victim to take medication to induce an abortion.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Azeem Sheikh on Friday acquitted all three accused, granting them the benefit of the doubt.

Later, the rape victim tried to set herself on fire by dousing her body in petrol after a local court acquitted the man accused of assaulting her on Friday. The victim suffered severe injuries from the burn and was rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the district Police officer Essa khan directed the SP investigation to look into the case and determine the truth.

A police spokesperson stated that the accused officer had been dismissed from service following the incident, as he was found guilty in the departmental investigation. However, the court acquitted him based on the DNA profiling results.
