A citizen was deprived of his mobile phone in a robbery incident at Sindhi Muslim Food Walk, just days after its inauguration by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Affected citizen Salal Baloch, while talking to Dialogue Pakistan said he was visiting the location with his uncle, who had arrived from the United Kingdom for a holiday, and his father. While recording videos near the main roundabout close to Royal Restaurant and KFC, two unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle allegedly snatched his mobile phone and fled.
Baloch claimed that multiple motorcycles were involved in assisting the suspects' escape.
He further alleged that additional individuals provided cover to the suspects as he attempted to chase them.
He questioned the effectiveness of security arrangements at the location, particularly given the presence of security personnel and CCTV cameras.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the initial response from the local administration after requesting assistance and access to surveillance footage.
The complainant said he subsequently contacted Police Emergency Helpline 15 and visited the relevant police station, where the process of registering an FIR was initiated.
Expressing concern over the incident, Baloch said that mobile phone snatching and street crimes were not isolated incidents but affected citizens, including men and women, on a regular basis.
He acknowledged the Sindh government's development initiatives but stressed that public safety and security must remain a priority alongside infrastructure and recreational projects.
