The Railway Police Karachi Division set a commendable example of integrity by returning a sum of Rs3.8 million to a passenger.
According to Pakistan Railways, the incident occurred on 26 December when a passenger, Mohsin Mushtaq, was travelling from Karachi to Toba Tek Singh on the Pakistan Express.
Pakistan Railways stated that when the train reached Hyderabad Station, Mohsin Mushtaq disembarked briefly due to a personal matter.
During this time, the train departed, leaving behind his luggage, which contained approximately PKR 3.8 million in cash.
It was further reported that, while on duty, Constable Rao Sharif discovered the bag on the train and immediately secured it.
Shortly afterwards, the passenger reported to the railway police station to inform them about his missing belongings.
The passenger later travelled to Rohri via the Karakoram Express, where, in the presence of a Sub-Inspector at the help centre, he identified his luggage.
Following a complete count and verification, the full amount of approximately PKR 3.8 million was returned to him.
