Punjab starts e-service marriage registration

Punjab Information Technology Board has started providing an online service of marriage registration and issuance of marriage certificates at 15 centers in Punjab to facilitate citizens.

According to sources, this step will allow citizens to register marriage and get certificate conveniently and quickly without any hassle. The centers will be working from 9am to 5pm. Sources said citizens can seek information through the Punjab e-Khidmat Portal or through helpline.

Sources said that all couples must register their marriage with respective Union Council under law.

Documents required for getting marriage certificate or Nikah Nama include copies of bride’s and groom’s CNIC, copies of both bride and groom’s father’s CNICs and copies of witnesses’ CNICs.

Citizens may either bride or groom themselves can approach the Union Council for marriage registration. The official will check all the documents provided before recording Nikah Nama.
