A newly-married couple was shot dead in Cattle Colony, Karachi on Wednesday night.

According to police report, the victims, 30-year-old Sudheer Abdul Hameed and 27-year-old Saima Sudheer, had gotten married a month ago by court marriage.

The father of Saima, allegedly, shot the couple, killing them in what police referred to as honor killing. A passer-by was also wounded in the firing and taken to Jinnah hospital for treatment.

SHO Khalid Memon of Memon Goth police station said relatives of the bride and groom were believed to be involved in the attack because the marriage happened against family wishes.

Police have registered an FIR and are investigating the incident, with efforts underway to arrest the suspects.
