LAHORE: A mother of two was allegedly tortured to death by her in-laws in Malkhoki area near Barki Road in Lahore Cantonment, the brother of the deceased told Dialogue Pakistan.

The incident took place in Malkhoki Village, within the Hayer area.

The brother of the deceased woman alleged that she was killed by her in-laws over a money dispute, who tried to make it look like a suicide.

"She had signs of electric shock, a broken arm, and multiple severe injuries and bruises on her body," the man told Dialogue Pakistan.

"They later tried to hang her to stage it as a suicide. Her husband fled the scene. We demand a fair and transparent investigation," the man alleged.

Meanwhile, acting on the instructions of SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Hayer, accompanied by a police team, took immediate action following the incident.

According to police officials, three suspects, identified as Moeen, Qasim and Sadia, have been arrested in connection with the case.

Police and forensic teams visited the scene and collected evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

The deceased’s body was taken into custody and transferred to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz stated that a case is being registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Muhammad Yasir, against the named suspects, Moeen, Qasim and Sadia, as well as two unidentified individuals.

The police official further emphasised that all those found responsible would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
