Massive fire guts dozens of huts in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar

Karachi: A fire in Gulistan-e-Johar reduced dozens of huts, belongings of nomadic families, and several motorcycles to ashes.

The blaze started in a hut located in Block 10 of Gulistan-e-Johar and quickly spread to nearby huts, engulfing the entire cluster in flames.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out due to a short circuit caused by electric wires coming into contact. Initially, one fire tender arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire.

However, rescue officials said that additional fire tenders were summoned as the blaze posed a threat to nearby residential areas.

Five firefighters managed to control the fire after two hours of intense effort.

The fire destroyed dozens of huts, household belongings of nomadic families, and several motorcycles.

According to the fire officer, several livestock animals also sustained burns in the incident.
