Man dies, son injured as speeding car runs over family sleeping on footpath in Karachi

Karachi: A tragic road accident near Khayaban-e-Bukhari in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has claimed the life of a man and left his four-year-old son seriously injured after a speeding vehicle ran over them while they were sleeping on a footpath.

Police officials identified the deceased as 40-year-old Khadim, while his four-year-old son Zeeshan is receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

According to police, the deceased used to sell flowers at traffic signals with his two sons to earn a living. His second child remained safe in the accident.

The victim’s brother and the injured child stated that the family was having a meal on the footpath when a speeding vehicle allegedly broke a signal and crashed into them.

After the accident, the driver reportedly placed the deceased man and the injured child in his vehicle and took them to a private hospital near Kala Pul, where he left them and fled the scene.

Police officials said that the BYD vehicle involved in the accident was unregistered, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding driver.
