Traffic Police in Karachi have resumed on-the-spot traffic fines on the major roads of the southern port city to complement the existing faceless e-challan system.

As per details, Traffic police now operate on-the-spot ticketing on major intersections, moving away from exclusive camera-based fines.

Officers are equipped to issue digital tickets on the spot, with fines ranging from PKR 500 to over PKR 20,000 for serious violations like over-speeding, not wearing seat belts, and driving without a license.

Moreover, officers are told to use a mobile app to instantly report violations, making the process transparent.

It should be noted that recent regulations have considerably increased fines to promote safety. For example, over-speeding fines can be Rs. 5,000 for motorcycles and Rs. 10,000 for cars.

However, violations are still recorded by smart cameras on major roads (e.g., Shahrah-e-Faisal) and linked to your vehicle/CNIC.

It is worth mentioning that Karachi officially transitioned to its new automated Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) on October 27, 2025.
