Gulberg police have arrested a man for allegedly resorting to aerial firing that killed a young boy near Gujjar Nala.

According to a statement issued by the District Central police spokesperson, the incident occurred Friday night in the Gujjar Nala area within the jurisdiction of Gulberg police station. Eight-year-old Mahtab, son of Atta Hassan, was killed after being struck by a stray bullet.

The police said that the bullet pierced the main door of a house, passed through a room door, and struck the child in the shoulder, resulting in his death.

A probe revealed that the gunshot was fired at a musical function being held on the other side of the Gujjar Nala.

Following the incident, a nearby shop owner, Ejaz, informed Arif Shah that a child had been killed due to aerial firing. Shah, along with Zaheer and two unidentified individuals, reportedly closed the office and fled the scene.

Acting on Ejaz’s information, Gulberg police arrested Arif Shah and recovered the firearm. Ejaz was also taken into custody for allegedly assisting the suspects and helping them evade arrest.

The Crime Scene Unit was called to collect evidence, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
