Karachi airport plunges into darkness after power failure

A sudden power outage plunged Jinnah International Airport into darkness Thursday, disrupting flight operations and causing inconvenience to passengers.

The reported failure of the generator caused the power failure.

In a video shared by journalist Kamal Siddiqi, the Karachi airport can be seen in darkness after a power failure.

The outage affected the Jinnah International Airport's lighting, air-conditioning, conveyor belts and immigration counters. Passengers from home and abroad were stranded in the waiting area, while their luggage could not be transferred from the planes either. 

Long queues of passengers formed at the immigration counters, where manual processing was being done.

Sources said that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) was trying to restore the power supply with the help of generators.
