Justice Jahangiri is required to submit a response to allegations raised in a petition accusing him of obtaining an LLB degree from Karachi University through unfair means.

On December 9, the IHC sought a detailed report regarding Justice Jahangiri’s academic credentials. The report was submitted during a hearing in which the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was directed to provide Justice Jahangiri’s original educational records, under the instructions of IHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Azam Khan.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had instructed the Islamabad High Court to decide all preliminary objections and proceed with the case strictly in accordance with the law.

Subsequently, the two-member bench ruled that the petition was maintainable and set aside the registrar’s office objection.

The bench also granted Justice Jahangiri three days to submit a factual reply to the allegations.

Due to time constraints, the registrar’s office served the notice directly at Justice Jahangiri’s chamber. Sources said that court staff received the notice on his behalf and placed it before him, following which he decided to appear before the bench at the next hearing.
