The Crime Control Department (CCD) stated that five suspected drug traffickers were killed in two separate incidents on Tuesday while they were in police custody.
According to the CCD, the suspects were being taken for recovery operations when their accomplices opened fire on the police team in an attempt to free them.
During the exchange of gunfire, the suspects were fatally wounded by shots allegedly fired by their own associates. Police officials said the attackers managed to flee the scene, and investigations into the incidents are underway.
A police official claimed that a team of the Lahore CCD was taking the name of the suspects Ashiq, Azeem, Khurram and Aslam for the recovery of narcotics when some unknown men opened fire at the police.
However, in response the police department opened back fire which led to the death of five suspects. The police officials registered the case against the suspects who managed to flee from the scene.
