Children were seen dangerously crossing the Naseer Canal to reach their school in a village in Sindh. A young boy was seen carrying a girl in uniform on his shoulders to help her cross the waterway.

The video showed children carrying bags on their heads as they navigate the canal.

In May, indh Education Miniter Syed Sardar Ali Shah referred to a report by the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) in his briefing to Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.

Shah admitted that 4.5 million children are forced to drop out of school in Sindh due to various reasons. He stated that there are only 36,234 primary schools and 4,730 middle schools in the province.

The institute's survey found that 26.2 million children in Pakistan are out of school, including 7.63 million in Sindh.

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Sindh Vice Chairperson Khizar Habib, a longtime researcher in the education sector, argued that the number of out-of-school children is significantly higher than official figures.
