WhatsApp is experimenting with a new feature that brings a voicemail-like experience to its calling system, spotted in the latest Android beta (v2.25.23.21), according to WABetaInfo.

Under the update, users making a voice call that goes unanswered will see a new “Record Voice Message” option alongside “Recall” and “Cancel”.

This allows callers to instantly leave an audio message without exiting the call screen.

The feature also integrates into the recipient’s chat window, where the missed call is displayed along with the option to play the recorded voice message.

While WhatsApp already supports sending voice notes, this addition removes extra steps, offering a more seamless, voicemail-style experience.

Currently limited to select beta testers on Android, there is no confirmation yet from WhatsApp or Meta regarding a wider rollout.
