The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has added Hyderabad as its seventh franchise after the US-based FKS Group secured the team through the highest bid at an expansion auction held in Islamabad.

The management rights of the franchise were acquired for Rs175 crore (approximately $6.25 million). The team will be named after Hyderabad, while its full official name will be announced later. The franchise is owned by FKS Group and headed by its president, Fawad Sarwar.

Following the successful bid, Sarwar said the decision to name the team after Hyderabad reflected his personal connection with the city. He stated that representing his hometown in the PSL had been a long-standing ambition.

Born and raised in Hyderabad, Sarwar completed his schooling from St. Bonaventure's High School in the city before pursuing higher studies abroad. He currently resides in the United States but has maintained close ties with Hyderabad.

Sarwar is a businessman with interests across multiple sectors. He is the founder and owner of Kingsmen Sports and Enterprises and also owns the Chicago Kingsmen cricket team in the United States. He has remained involved in cricket-related ventures through sports ownership and investment.

As president of FKS Group, Sarwar oversees a diversified portfolio that includes FKS Aviation, ProCare Health, and Kingsmen Enterprise. He is also associated with several investment firms, including Gilded Investments, Sand2Glass Investments, and Minus2Degrees.
