Two young women were killed after a speeding Land Cruiser, allegedly driven by the son of a judge, rammed into their electric scooty in Islamabad, police said on Monday.

According to details, the accident occurred within the jurisdiction of Secretariat police station last night.

The victims, identified as Samreen and Tabinda, were riding an electric scooty when the luxury vehicle struck them with great force. Both died on the spot.

Police officials confirmed that the suspect, identified as Abuzar, has been arrested and a case has been registered.

Police officials stated that the suspect is reported to be the son of a serving judge, though authorities have not yet issued an official confirmation.

This incident follows an earlier deadly accident in the federal capital where a speeding car hit two girls on a scooter on Iran Avenue. In that accident, the riders—identified as Amna and Fatima—were critically injured.

Amna succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to the hospital, while Fatima survived and was reported to be in stable condition, according to rescue officials.
