Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the first T20 International at Rawalpindi, successfully chasing a target of 183 runs in the 19th over with six wickets down.

Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan led the chase with an impressive 89-run innings off 48 balls, hitting 10 fours and four sixes. Muaz Sadaqat also made a valuable contribution, scoring a half-century of 50 runs, while Fakhar Zaman added 21 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Eshan Malinga and Maheesh Theekshana claimed two wickets each.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 182 runs for the loss of eight wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Lahiru Udara top-scored for Sri Lanka with a brilliant 91 off 48 balls, including 11 fours and a six. Kamindu Mendis contributed 23 runs, while Dasun Shanaka scored 18.

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah took three wickets, while Mohammad Imran claimed two. Saim Ayub, Razaullah and Shadab Khan picked up one wicket each.

With this victory, Pakistan have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
