US President Donald Trump has cancelled his scheduled visit to India for the upcoming Quad Summit, according to media reports on Saturday.

The White House has not issued an official statement confirming the development, while India’s Ministry of External Affairs has also remained silent on the matter.

Reports suggest that Trump had initially been expected to attend the summit, but despite repeated assurances, he decided to withdraw. Some sources claimed he had no intention of visiting India in the first place.

The decision comes at a time of reported tensions between Washington and New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in the past publicly rejected Trump’s assertions that the United States played a role in facilitating peace between India and Pakistan, insisting that the two countries resolved the ceasefire issue independently.

Diplomatic friction has also been linked to Washington’s sanctions on India over its purchase of Russian oil, which added strain to bilateral ties. Media outlets noted that Modi was increasingly frustrated with Trump’s statements and positions on regional matters.

The cancellation marks a setback for India, which had sought to use the summit to showcase its role within the Quad grouping alongside the US, Japan, and Australia.
