The Canadian government appointed Shahid Chaudhry as a Justice of Peace in the Ontario Court of Justice, marking a historic moment as he became the first Pakistani to hold this esteemed legal position.

Originally from Borewala, Punjab, Shahid Chaudhry moved to Canada 25 years ago. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and completed his postgraduate certificate from Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada.

Justice Shahid's extensive career includes serving on the Council and various committees of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. In 2011, he also assumed the role of a Canadian Immigration and Citizenship Consultant.

The newly-appointed judge is the husband of Deputy Mayor Maleeha Shahid in the Canadian city of Whitby.
