The Sindh government has withdrawn its decision to introduce a six-day school week, restoring Saturday as a weekly holiday for all public and private educational institutions across the province.
According to the Sindh Education Department, the revised schedule was approved by the chief secretary and will see schools operate from Monday to Friday.
To compensate for the reduced number of working days, daily teaching hours will be extended by one hour to ensure the completion of the academic curriculum, the department said.
The decision applies to all educational institutions under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department, including both public and private schools.
Last month, the provincial government had announced that schools across Sindh would observe a six-day working week from August 1 until further orders. An official notification had directed all public and private educational institutions to operate from Monday to Saturday.
