Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed full support for former senator Mushtaq Ahmed’s wife after her husband was abducted by Israeli forces from the Global Sumud Flotilla that was sailing to Gaza.

In reaction to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s criticism of Imran Khan, PTI warned him against questioning the faith of its founder.

PTI leaders met Mushtaq Ahmed’s wife on Monday in the opposition chamber, assuring her of the party’s support while the government continues efforts to secure the detained senator’s release from Israeli prison.

According to reports, the Pakistani Embassy in Amman, Jordan, is coordinating with the government to press for Mushtaq Ahmed’s release. He was presented before an Israeli court along with other Global Sumud Flotilla activists. Those who were released by Israel have complained of torture and humiliation at the hands of Israeli forces.

The government has stated that Mushtaq Ahmed is expected to return to Pakistan within a few days.

PTI also responded to Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s remarks, in which he urged Imran Khan to speak up for Palestinians. “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf calls Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s recent statement ridiculous, ill-intentioned, and yet another attempt to appease the establishment,” PTI said in a post on X.

“Hafiz Naeem is commenting on the faith, honor, and passion for Palestine of a jailed public leader. This reflects the height of his political malice and intellectual slavery,” the statement added.

PTI maintained that the JI chief had already met party chairman Barrister Gohar, who had assured him of PTI’s unconditional participation in the march for Gaza.

The party further criticised Hafiz Naeem for not allowing Mushtaq Ahmed to speak against the establishment, nor openly extending support to him after his detention by Israel.

PTI clarified that the statements issued by the party were a reflection of Imran Khan’s stance on multiple issues.
