Residents of Baloch Colony in Karachi staged a protest on Friday against ongoing power outages and water shortages, causing major traffic disruptions in the area.

The protest took place on the Shaheed-e-Millat flyover, where demonstrators blocked traffic for several hours, voicing their frustrations over the persistent utility issues.

Commuters were left stranded in severe traffic congestion as a result of the blockade, with many stuck in gridlocks for extended periods.

Protesters demanded immediate resolution of the electricity and water supply problems, declaring that they would end their demonstration once the issues were addressed.

Negotiations with local authorities began after two hours of disruption, and authorities assured the residents that both water and electricity supplies would be restored shortly.

The protest was called off following the agreement, but traffic in the area remained severely impacted for several more hours.

The situation only began to improve after police intervened, dispersing the protesters and reopening both lanes of the flyover.

K-Electric, in response to the protest, clarified that the power outage in Baloch Colony was unrelated to the demonstration, stating that the electricity supply in the area was functioning normally.

Local authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and work to address the concerns raised by the residents.
