Pakistan will temporarily close its airspace on October 28 and 29, according to a notification issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).

The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) stated that the country’s airspace will remain shut from 6am to 9am on both days.

Media reports said the move comes amid possible Indian military exercises planned near the Pakistan border.

Indian media has reported that India is set to conduct “Trishul 2025,” a large-scale tri-service combat exercise along its western frontier from October 30 to November 10. As part of the preparations, India has also restricted airspace use in areas near Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The upcoming drills come at a time of heightened tension between the two neighbours.

Earlier this week, during a visit to forward posts in the Creeks area, Pakistan’s Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf reiterated that the Navy remains fully prepared to safeguard the country’s maritime borders.
