Pakistan and Sri Lanka ended their two-week joint anti-terrorism drill in Tarbela, which aimed at improving their counter-terrorism capabilities and building upon their already established military-military ties.

In a statement released by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan-Sri Lanka Joint Exercise Shake Hands-II was held between the armies of both countries at Tarbela with counter-terrorism being its core theme.

"Joint Exercise Shake Hands-II started on April 27 and concluded today. Combat units of the Special Services Group (SSG) of the Pakistan Army and Sri Lankan Special Forces took part in the joint exercise," it added.

ISPR also noted that the general officer commanding of the SSG attended the event as the chief guest, while Major General Ajith Abeyawardana from Sri Lanka witnessed the closing ceremony.

"The troops showed professionalism in all their activities during the joint exercise," ISPR said.

ISPR also mentioned that the joint exercise would help improve the counter-terrorism procedures and techniques through joint training exercises and strengthen their historic military-military relations.
