Iran has warned that any fresh military confrontation with the United States could be more prolonged than the previous conflict, following US President Donald Trump’s remarks suggesting further strikes against Iranian targets.
The warning comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the Middle East conflict, as the United States and Israel continue to signal the possibility of renewed military action.
Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said a future conflict could extend beyond the previous round of fighting, adding that Washington would not be able to determine when or under what conditions it would end. His remarks were reported by Iranian state television.
The latest warning follows Trump’s comments that the United States still had a small number of targets to address in Iran, suggesting they could be struck within minutes.
Speaking to reporters at his Florida residence, Trump said Washington had yet to deal with what he described as one or two remaining sites but could carry out the strikes within 10 minutes.
The conflict began on February 28 with US and Israeli strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the region.
