Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi on Monday claimed that young Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali did not die by suicide, adding that he was shot four times.
Speaking to the media, the governor said, "according to the information available to me, Mir Raza was hit by four bullets," while expressing sorrow over the trader's death.
The governor's remarks come amid an ongoing investigation into the case, in which the body of Mir Raza Ali was found in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
Commenting on the city's law and order situation, Hashmi said Karachi's large population naturally posed security challenges, adding that authorities needed to further strengthen security arrangements in line with changing circumstances.
He also said the city's crime situation had improved significantly compared with 2010 due to the efforts and sacrifices of law enforcement agencies, but stressed that more work was needed to further improve peace and security.
