Two suspects, including the main accused, who allegedly tore gold earrings from the ears of an elderly woman, were killed in an alleged police encounter in the Manawan area of Lahore, according to police officials.

The deceased, identified as Faraz Ali and his accomplice John Shah, were reportedly involved in multiple serious crimes across the city.

Faraz Ali had recently made headlines after a viral video showed him violently snatching gold earrings from an elderly woman in the Ghaziabad area, sparking public outrage.

According to police sources, the encounter occurred when a team from the CCD Cantt unit attempted to apprehend the suspects.

The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team, leading to a gunfight in which both were fatally shot. Station House Officer (SHO) Atif Zulfiqar narrowly escaped harm during the shootout, with bullets striking his bulletproof jacket.

Police say that both suspects had long criminal records and were wanted in several serious cases registered in different areas of Lahore.

The swift action came after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the Ghaziabad incident, ordering law enforcement agencies to ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits.

Sources within the CCD confirmed that both Faraz Ali and John Shah were under active surveillance and were considered high-risk targets due to the nature of their past offences.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are reviewing the suspects' connections to other unsolved cases in the city.
