Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday handed over extradition documents for former PM’s aide Shahzad Akbar and YouTuber Adil Raja to UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott during a meeting in Islamabad.

According to the interior ministry, Naqvi and Marriott discussed bilateral ties, security cooperation and other shared concerns. Senior officials, including Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, were also in attendance. The two sides also talked about the repatriation of Pakistanis living illegally in the UK.

The ministry said that Naqvi formally handed over the extradition dossiers for Akbar and Raja, adding that both are “wanted in Pakistan”.

“They should be handed over to Pakistan immediately,” Naqvi told the British envoy, according to the statement. The minister also shared material that, he said, linked certain Pakistani nationals abroad to online propaganda.

“I fully believe in freedom of expression, but fake news is a problem for every country,” he remarked, stressing that no state could permit “slander and defamation against state institutions” from overseas.

Naqvi added that Pakistan would welcome the UK’s support in the return of individuals accused of “anti-Pakistan propaganda”. The ministry noted that the extradition steps were initiated through the foreign ministry.
