Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a pivotal meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Friday, marking a renewed effort to enhance bilateral cooperation and advance regional peace and counter-terrorism initiatives.

According to a statement from the Foreign Office, this marks the first official interaction between the two leaders since their respective appointments.

Upon arrival at the US State Department, DPM Dar was warmly received by senior American officials. The meeting featured comprehensive discussions on the full spectrum of Pakistan–US relations, with both sides expressing a commitment to deepening collaboration.

The two leaders explored opportunities to boost bilateral trade and investment, with a focus on strategic sectors such as agriculture, technology, and minerals.
