Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has alleged that an armed man was sent to attack him, claiming his security team detained the suspect and handed him over to police.

Afridi also alleged that electricity at his location was cut and generators were sabotaged.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has planned three camps in Rawalpindi to welcome Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi during his visit to the city on Wednesday.

The move is part of the party’s efforts to mobilise workers for the Islamabad protest scheduled for September 27.

PTI Rawalpindi District President Chaudhry Ameer Afzal Khan told Dawn that Afridi would travel from Lahore to Peshawar via the Grand Trunk Road and address party workers in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum and Rawalpindi.

The party plans to establish welcome camps at Gujar Khan, Rawat and Khayaban-i-Sir Syed on Karnal Sher Khan Road.

Khan said Afridi had expressed a desire to visit Rawalpindi city and The Mall, but the local party chapter informed him that Peshawar Road and The Mall would be difficult to access because of construction work at Race Course Park.

Afridi is expected to continue his journey to Peshawar after addressing party workers in Rawalpindi.
